Budgeter's Best Friend

I'll admit it - I don't always give the library a fair shake.  Early memories of the library revolved around story telling, puppet shows, Christmas tree lightings, and other generally joyful experiences.  Since those early days it's been more about required reading, cramming for tests, and hardcore research.  I was never fond of the Dewey Decimal System and the newish computer system at our local library never seemed up to date.  It was probably user error more than anything else but those challenges left a bad taste in my mouth.

But if you're on a tight budget, the library can be your best friend.  Erin is reconnecting, shouldn't you too?

A trip to your local library will most likely provide; CDs from popular music artists, DVDs, newspapers, and magazines.  Some of us could save plenty of money monthly by canceling our subscriptions and reading the library provided ones instead.

Don't forget about free Wi-Fi at most libraries.  The best part is you won't be pressured to buy anything like you would at other 'free' Wi-Fi locations.  Not to mention you'll probably be able to surf in a more comfortable and quiet atmosphere.

Can't make it into your local library?  The link provided sends you to the Washington County Cooperative Library Services site for online resources.  With your library card in hand, you have online access to thousands of popular magazines, newsletters, audiobooks, and more.   Browse by topic or title to find your interests.  If you're not a Washington County resident, don't fret - many libraries across the country are a part of similar online networks.
